When I play one of these MP3 files on my player, it plays non stop for about 10 minutes then the player moves on to a song. I then have to go back to the metronome  fold to bring the MP3 up again. But it is definitely a very help-full tool. I try to work with it at least an hour a day, I usually try to practice near 3 hours a day in all total.

Just added a Flash player so you can play the files on the web page without saving them to your computer.

I figured I'd see how useful people found these before creating all of the intermediate tempos.  Sounds like people are finding it useful so I'll put that task in the queue.  I'm also thinking about adding a Flash player so people could just use the metronome from the page without having to download them.  This task is also in the queue.

Please note that we have also added a tool for performing "2 minute-15 second rest-2 minute" drills in our 4 Minute Practice Timer article.  While the longer mp3s are good for general purpose practice, the 4 Minute Practice Timer is designed to help you master difficult parts.  This is a standard learning technique used in other disciplines besides music; karate, etc..

This is a great tool to practice with, the only drawback is if you need BPM that is not in the list then it will not help you. But it can save you $80 for a real metronome, and that $80 could be used for a nice headphone set.

I find the best way to use it is to download the zip file of it and open it, create a play list named metronome or what ever. Then when you want to practice go to that play list and click on the BPM you wish to practice. Click on the repeat button on your player. I use it with Windows media player it it does not do the 15 second rest like it does online, it just keeps looping. Thanks for this app. Bob.

"The MP3 Metronome Experiment" is an article on StecPress (http://www.stecpress.com/?RecordId=565) that describes how to use a generic mp3 player as a musical metronome, providing free 300 measure click files.

We're setting up this page as a platform for extended discussion on the topic.
