A song that finally answers the question "Can the word 'gerrymander' be used in a song. " Yes, apparently, it can. A highly-Bob'd production with lead solos by the wonderful Ken Shano (check out Ken's Big City Wedding Band if you or someone you love is getting hitched and will only settle with amazing live music: bigcityweddingband.com ). In all honesty, this should probably be filed under "demos" but we are in the season of redistricting so I thought it would be worth putting a little light on one of the darker aspects of the already dark Electoral system we use in the United States. Generally speaking, gerrymandering is a manipulation of data so rather than dwell on the literal "Electoral" definition of the term, I'm using it more figuratively to describe rigging a system such as a relationship. I may be off track but I've got you thinking about the word and that was all I was really after in the first place:)

Gerrymander My Love

by Robert J. Sellon

You gerrymander my love
You distort the things I'm thinking of
Thinking of
A betrayal of trust
The failure of us

You gerrymander my heart
You amplify the smallest part
Smallest part
It's a con, what you do
Conclusion, untrue

Untrue, untrue
But let's call it truth
A steal revealed
But it wasn't who

Uncool, a coup
So lets call it proof
The steal unhealed
Cos it wasn't true
It wasn't true

You gerrymander my soul
You take the heat away and left me cold
Left me cold
It`s all chum but I know
How I wish you weren't so

Untrue, untrue
But let's call it truth
A steal revealed
But it wasn't new

Uncool, no clue
But lets call a truce
The deal is real
All eyes on you

You gerrymander my vote
You rigged it up to take away my hope
Away my hope
We're on to you now
We'll awaken somehow

Adieu, adieu
But let's call it
To many tools for you
To many, it's true

No clue, no clue
But lets call a truce
Unsealed, revealed
Pour ice on cue

Adieu, adieu
But let's call it
To many tools for you
To many, it's true

No clue, no clue
But lets call a truce
Unsealed, revealed
Pour ice on cue
